A Study on the Attitudes of Nursing autonomy and Patients Rights of Hospital Nurses

Abstract
This study was carried out to collect basic information on the attitudes of nursing autonomy and patients rights of hospital nurses. The Questionnaire was consisted of 53 Questions about nursing autonomy (subscale ¥° ), patients¢¥ rights (subscale ¥± ) and a factor related to both the rejection of traditional role limitations (subscale ¥²), A survey was conducted with 168 hospital nurses in Gwangju during the period 1-20, December, 1984.
The result obtained were as follows :
1. Gneral characteristics of those who responded the above questionnaire ; The most of the respoidents(81.5%) were in the 21-28 age group; 79.8% were unmarried, 77.4% graduated from the nursing junior college, 33.9% had 1-3, year experiences in hospital setting and 71.4% were staff nurses.
2. Nursing autonomy ; The mean of hospital nurses¢¥ perception about the nursing autonomy were 73.4. General characteristics didn¢¥t significantly affect how the nurses rated the statements.
3. Patients¢¥ rights ; The mean of hospital nurses¢¥ perception about the patients¢¥ rights were 31.4. General charateristics didn¢¥t significantly affect how the nurses rated the statements.
4. Rejecting traditional role limitations ; The mean of hospital nurses¢¥ perception about the rejection of traditional role limitations were 40.0. General characteristics didn¢¥t singnificantly affect how the nurses rated the statements.
